I need inexpensive transportation in Turkey, but I want to avoid a large deposit

Williams
No luck finding a rental without a massive upfront deposit around Istanbul. I am planning a trip to Sabiha Gökçen and honestly did not expect this to be so complicated. Is there a way to book a reasonably priced car there without getting stuck paying hundreds before I even start the engine?

This deposit system is, frankly, incredibly annoying. It caught me off guard last summer, too. While there are options for paying on arrival, you just have to carefully research suitable places and compare prices before booking.

At Sabiha Gökçen Airport, many people overlook an important detail: deposit-free car rentals are available at the pick-up counter inside the terminal, not in the outside parking lots. Several companies offer car hire at Istanbul, typically at the airport, and their terms and conditions vary greatly. For example, various options are listed here https://turkey-rentcar.ru/en/airport/sabiha-gokcen/ Comparing prices before arrival can save you real money, sometimes up to 30% or more off the total cost.
