New member here,as I just picked up a 1990 yt3600 for 175 bucks! I couldn’t pass this down, when I saw this machine I knew it was a classic. The baby blue paint, the fact that it is a YAMAHA lawn tractor (which I’ve never seen before), has disc breaks and the throttle forward and reverse. Mind you it does run and drive and came with bagger, the deal seemed to good to be true. But I have the mower and am now a fanatic by just having it for over a day. However, what I need help with is the blades (pto) won’t engage. The guy I bought it from said when you would engage the blades the mower would stall. So then he unplugged the seat safety feature so now when u engage nothing happens (which I think is because the mower thinks no one is on the mower so blades don’t need to be on) ANY HELP WILL BE MUCH APRECIATED, THANK YPU ON ADVANCE,

I would start with the basics. Spark plugs air filter and so on
Check to see if the blades need greased and correct belt size, maybe to much at once on the motor.

The seller put a new air filter on, but will be getting a new spark plug. The machine runs like a top in my eyes, it seems to be an electrical issue with the pto and I know parts are hard to come by so hoping it’s not.

You may need to find to override or bypass the seat safety

Just short the grey and black wire, that takes the seat switch out. Good luck! $175 with a bagger, thats awsome.
3-YT3600's, 2-YT 6800's, 1-YT6700 for parts.

I think the PTO pulley on the front of the engine can rust up just from not being used. Mine use to work but i never used it so now when I hit the switch the engine bogs down. Should be a fixable part if all it was was the rust. I have a deck with new blades and one new bearing for free. (Toronto Are)

Wow I appreciated that. Well good news I got the blades to engage. Not sure what I did other then unplug and the plug some connectors, found the pto in the front of the engine and gave it a few turns to make sure it wasn’t seized. I think it was user error from the previous owner. Again thanks for the insight and I appreciate the offer!
