My original TY3600 has been very faithful but on my first spring lawn cut at home, I couldn't get it started after stopping for gas. I suspect there is a switch on the clutch that may be faulty. The switch engages when the clutch is fully depressed to prevent starting in gear. I know parts are hard to come by. Can I by-pass the switch and try starting it? The battery is fine since I fully charged it several weeks ago and again tonight in an attempt to find an easy solution. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
John
Thanks Yamadog - I found the clutch/brake switch, pulled the plastic lead and jumped the two wires. Still no go. Took the solenoid to my dealer and he said it's fine. I'm running out of options and hate to see the old 3600 go after about 25 years of loyal
service. Except for a few service calls, it has been a very reliable machine. For instance, I changed the main belt for the first time just last year.

yes you can jumper that switch. Make sure youdid not leave the mower blade switch on, that has to be off

Thanks for your continued interest in my YT 3600. I dropped into the shop the other day and the mower has now moved from 'out back' into the shop itself. I'm hoping he can get around to it soon. I really love that old machine. When I get a diagnosis,
I'll fill you in and maybe help some fellow-owners. I'm really hoping it's something simple because Yamaha parts of this vintage are really hard to find.

John,
Did you ever get the details of your starting problem?
There are others with 3600's having similar problems...
Thanks,
