YT6800 HELP

Mercedes Dave
I have a YT6800.   It will run perfectly for about 10 minutes, then it begins to pop and lose power.  It will sputter and pop with low power then suddenly kick back in and run well for another 5 minutes then start the problem all over again. I changed the fuel filter but it still has the same issue. Any advice?

Sounds like you may have some dirt in your carb. Try running some Seafoam or (you pick) gas cleaner
additive in your tank to see if it helps. Make sure your gas cap vent is clear, and still venting. Check your
plugs and make sure there isn't a lot of buildup on them. Make sure your air filter and prefilter are clean.
Probably wouldn't hurt to spray some carb cleaner in the carb itself too.

Rattosh could be right on the money.

I did have a similar problem with my 6700. It would start and run great for the first 10 minutes then spit and sputter and have almost zero power. I found it to be a bad coil on one of the cylinders. How I found it was I waited until it was running poorly then shut it off, disconnect one of the two spark plug wires and started it again, it ran exactly as horribly as before. Then I shut it down and reconnected that plug wire and disconnected the other plug wire. Now it would not start at all. I thought maybe a bad plug. Swapped plugs same thing. Replaced the coil and back to normal.

Where is the prefilter located?

The prefilter is the foam element that goes around the air filter.
