I matched up the OEM Yamaha filter on my YT6800 to a Fram 6017A filter that is used on a lot of Motorcycles and small engines. The Yamaha OEM Filter that Yamaha pushes is a Denso 115010-1790. The Fram filter is available at Advanced Auto Parts here in Texas for about $8.00. I have not found anyone that makes the air filter yet. Only Yamaha at a rediculous price. If you find out please post it here. I would also like to know how to tell the year and model via the serial number. If anyone knows please post here. I have two of these machines I am trying to make into one running machine. The deck was completely shot on one machine but the engine runs great. The engine was shot on the other but the deck was/is salvageable so I had some discs made up to weld to the deck in order to support the main cutter bearings. The metal was pretty rusted and getting thin. See the pic:

The YT6800 tractor was made for only 2 years.
On your metal ID label riveted into the frame behind the right front tire, should be the the
designation YT6800N = 1989, or YT6800P = 1990. There is no difference between the two
years, all parts are interchangeable.
Great post on the oil filter, sigfuss, Thanks!!

Both of these YT6800's just say YT6800. I bought the one brand new but I forget what year that was. They have sort of strange serial number differences also. The one I bought new is JE8 900632 and the other is JE8 001635. Not the same number of digits? WOW...I just bought a brand new idler pully off ebay for $ .99 plus $6.00 shipping. You snooze you looze...

JE8 is the Yamaha code for the YT6800. All your OEM parts for the 6800 will start with JE8.
The 632 and 1635 are the serial numbers of the tractor. Can't remeber off of mine, but I think the N and P were just printed on there...they may have faded/washed away over time.

Dillion should have the air filter too, but be prepared for some sticker shock on those. Don't know if the dipstick tube is still a part that's carried or NLA.
The crankshaft seal is usually a prime suspect for a leak...
