Yt3600 starting issue

Dean woolman
Hi

I have a yt3600. I was just cutting the grass and it just stopped. Like somebody shut the key off. It will turned over no problem and there is very good spark on the spark plug. Took the fuel line off and turn key on and the fuel is there. So i had the carb rebuilded but still same problem.  Any ideals????  The float works good in the carb

Thank you in advance

Dean

I saw on your previous post that you had some cut wires...did you get them all figured out and reconnected?
Sounds like it could be possibly the seat safety switch., or clutch safety switch Check & make sure they are working.

Yes i believe i got the wiring figured out. I had it running for a bit then it just quit. It was like somebody turn the key off. As for the seat safety switch,  is there a way to bypass the switch?

I believe shorting the Black and Gray takes the seat switch out.

I have the same issue.  I just picked up the mower.  I had one successful cut and 3/4 of the 2nd, it sputtered then quit.  Been unable to fire it back up since.  Carb was cleaned, new spark plug, and fuel pump is working, just can't get it to fire up.

Usually, when a mower cuts out during cutting, a safety switch is a likely culprit. Other times, it has to do with heat. If it doesn't start after cooling down, then the switches & spark at the plug need to be checked first. try some starting fluid down the carb & see if it will fire. If it doesn't fire at all, then there probably is no spark being generated for some reason.

I have tested the spark plug and I am getting spark.  Even with starting fluid, I cannot get a full turn over.  The most I will get is the occasional sputter.  If my safety switches are engaged, i get no movement when the key is turned.  When they are off, it tries to start.  Do you still think it is a safety switch issue?

"When they are off, it tries to start."
Hmmm, this seems odd. Not too sure what is going on here. Doesn't seem to be a switch now, but don't understand why it tries to start when they are off.
Guess time to make sure the gas cap vent is clear, battery fully charged, gas lines in good shape . Should also check all wiring and connectors for corrosion.

What I mean by "they are off" is the safety switches.  If I am off the seat or the blades are engaged, it wont even attempt to turn over.  It seems they function properly.  I have eliminated gas cap for now because even with a direct shot of starting fluid, i rarely get a sputter.  I am baffled so I am looking on here to see if anyone had any similar issues and fixes.  I have someone looking at it tomorrow for me to see if they can figure out the issue.

Gotcha...the switches are fine then.
Odd that you get very little sputter, but have good spark and fuel.
Let us know if you find anything!

Here's an old post where a flywheel magnet had come off...

The rocker arm broke. Once detected, it fired right up.  Waiting on replacement parts to finalize the fix.  Thanks for your time and hopefully this will help someone else too.

Hi,

Where is the fuel filter located. It is not in the open. Can it be located under the tractor?

I was wondering if you could help me. Policies one of these mowers up and I had to do alittle work to it. I can’t get the ignition to work. When I turn the key it won’t turn over. Does that have anything to do with safety switches. Cause the 1 for the seatbwas cut. I can jump it from the starter relay and it cranks just fine.

Bryan-
It can be, yes. You also have to make sure the brake pedal is pushed all the way down before starting, as that is another safety switch.

So if I push it down and it will won’t turn than it’s the ignition that’s bad?
