new old yt6700

I have the opportunity to purchase a new in crate yt6700 from a guy that used to sell them, but I have no idea of what it is worth. Does anyone have an idea of what it may be worth? Should I be comparing it to one of the $1500-$1700 riders (JD/Husqvarna/MTD...) from one of the big box stores, or is the yt6000 a much better built machine?  Thanks

These mowers are way better quality then any MTD built mower.  Had mine for twenty years and still working.  Sound like you are buying a mower that been sitting around for 20 years in a crate.     Sitting around is not good on mowers, grease dries up seals dry up and you might have corrosion in the carb. Another thing to consider people are starting to have a hard time getting parts now, in 10 more years you may not be able to.  Things like the blade are unique to this mower.If you buy it i would not give the price of a new one.
